Rural Hospital Nonprofit Partner

The U.S. FDA’s “Prescribe with Confidence” campaign provides resources to help primary care providers recognize and treat opioid use disorder.

The Prescribe with confidence campaign is a project of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER).

CDER performs an essential public health task by making sure that safe and effective drugs are available to improve the health of people in the United States.

The FDA is responsible for protecting the public health by ensuring the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, and medical devices; and by ensuring the safety of our nation’s food supply, cosmetics, and products that emit radiation.

Our national campaign is focused on educating primary care providers on how to recognize and treat opioid use disorder. We know that opioid use disorder is a chronic health condition that is treatable with medications in a variety of practice settings, including primary care. Both research and our conversations with providers show that medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) save lives.

This is why we’re partnering with NRHA – to make sure rural healthcare providers have the information and tools they need to recognize and treat opioid use disorder.
