Measurable rural impact

Specialty care access through eConsults
An OCHIN member rural health center implemented Epic integrated virtual dermatology eConsults and reduced specialist wait time by 45 days. The program reduced the need for higher cost in person visits and saved patients an estimated $120 in travel and lost wages per avoided referral. Read more on the OCHIN blog.

Remote patient monitoring for chronic disease
An OCHIN member community health center re-engaged 78 percent of participating patients through integrated telehealth and monitoring. Within two months, 80 percent of patients achieved controlled or improved blood pressure. Read more on the OCHIN blog.

Virtual care to reduce no shows
Through mobile hotspots, telehealth tools, and health information exchange capabilities, an OCHIN member rural health center reduced no show rates to approximately 7 percent and delivered 485 patient encounters in 14 months. Read more on the OCHIN blog.

Since joining the OCHIN network, Kahuku Medical Center improved specialty care referral coordination using OCHIN Epic and integrated tools.
